The full first chapter of the comic NUCLEAR SUMMER 1997, serialized online here.
Jack Fisher is a retired soldier trying to find a normal life after events that left him unable to continue work. When he is called to investigate the disappearance of the CO of a soon-to-be shut down nuclear storage base, he is reluctant to return to a world he'd thought he'd managed to escape- but the situation turns out to be more dire than originally thought, and he is left with no choice but to delve back into the industry that ruined his life.
The year is 1997, and summer is in full swing. The end of the world has yet to begin.
Drawing inspiration from the psychedelic art of the 60's and 70's, NUCLEAR SUMMER 1997 is part homage to the weirder parts of retro action movies, part conspiracy thriller, part feelings. Mostly feelings. It's also American history, but just a little to the left.
The first chapter introduces some of our main players and sets the story into motion.
PHANTOM JUNGLE contains depictions of smoking as well as visual, stylized representations of unreality and PTSD.
